An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Legal Services Section, based on the South Coast in Worthing Town Centre, West Sussex, providing a joint legal service to Adur District Council and Worthing Borough Council.   

We are looking for a Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive, with knowledge and experience of the law relating to Commercial Contracts and Procurement, preferably gained in a Local Government environment.   Experience in commercial property matters would also be advantageous.

Reporting to the Senior Lawyer and Deputy Monitoring Officer in the Property and Contracts Team, the successful candidate will be responsible for advising on property and contract matters, negotiating terms and drafting documentation, researching and analysing legislation, advising on its interpretation and providing, proactive, creative and pragmatic advice to Officers and Members of the Councils.

We are looking for a positive, driven and innovative professional with excellent commercial and negotiation skills and the ability to give clear, practical enabling legal advice.

The Councils operate flexible working practices.  Some evening work is required to attend Council Committee meetings on an occasional basis.
