Private Sector Housing Officer - Part Time

Salary: Starting from £34,788 to £37,849 per annum pro rata

Grade: Grade 7

Hours: 30 hours per week

Place of Work: Portland House, Richmond Road, Worthing

Duties of the post:

The Private Sector Housing team have a vacancy for a part-time Private Sector Housing Officer. The
emphasis in this role is on carrying out inspections and investigations of complaints about poor or
hazardous housing conditions within the private rented sector, as well as inspections of houses in
multiple occupation, but we also deal with grants and adaptations.                                                        
Private Sector Housing is a friendly, professional team committed to improving housing conditions
and protecting residents within our area and make full and appropriate use of legislation to achieve
this goal.                                                                                                                                          
Although qualifications and experience are important, strong consideration will be given to candidates with a positive attitude towards this important work.                                                                            
For this post, you should have an appropriate qualification in an environmental health or a housing
related subject and ideally be experienced and competent in assessing housing conditions and in the
use of the Housing Health and Safety Rating System. Experience in the drafting of formal letters and
notice is also desirable, but good interpersonal skills are essential.                                                        
Reporting to the Private Sector Housing Manager, the successful candidate must be a hard working
individual with a pragmatic, responsible outlook and an ability to communicate with the public.               
The post will be based in Worthing town centre, but an essential part of the role is visiting people in
their home across Adur and Worthing District You must hold a full current driving licence and have
access to a vehicle.
