Casual Customer Services Advisers - Waste and Recycling

Salary: £10 per hour inclusive of annual leave entitlement.

Hours: 08:30am - 17:00pm when required. 

Anticipated requirement: 12 weeks’ full time work from July or August 2019 onwards, but please note these are casual contracts to deal with anticipated peaks in demand from our customers. Services will be provided by you at the times and dates agreed with the Customer Services department on a timesheet basis and may vary according to the Contact Centre’s requirements.

Are you keen to support the reduction in waste and support recycling? We are looking to recruit several enthusiastic, professional and confident individuals who can answer a high volume of phone calls in our busy, fast paced Contact Centre, and who thrive on providing great customer service.

We will train you on how to provide information and advice to customers who are telephoning regarding our rubbish collection service.  After training, you will be expected to resolve most queries at the first point of contact, i.e. this is an advisory role, not a switchboard style job.  Customers who contact us can be vulnerable, angry or distressed, so you need to have high levels of personal resilience and excellent communication skills.  It is important to provide consistent customer service, even when the council is unable to provide the resolution the customer seeks.

You must have:

  • Outstanding communication and customer service skills
  • Previous customer service experience
  • Computer skills/ability to use various IT systems
  • Availability in July/August/September/October (staggered starts for up to 12 weeks’ full time work - 37 hours a week)
  • Resilience and stamina to deal with a high volume of calls
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
