Our Home Improvement Assistance (HIA) team provides support to clients who are vulnerable, or a family member who is vulnerable, to adapt their home to meet their needs, which can be achieved by applying for Disabled Facility Grants or Repair Grant Assistance. It also manages the subsidised Handyman service.
We are looking for a Home Improvement Officer to work within the front line team of the Home Improvement Assistance service providing advice and assistance to vulnerable and low income homeowners and private tenants across Adur and Worthing.
The Home Improvement Officer will help relevant persons apply for grants administered by the Councils, but will also effectively act as a case manager for the application from referral through to completion of the works. They will work closely with the technical staff within the team and ensure that the application progresses in a timely and efficient manner. The Officer will also help administer the Handyperson scheme throughout the Council’s areas.
The successful candidate must be an enthusiastic, well-organised team-worker, and good interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
The post will be based in Worthing town centre, but will also require people being visited in their home across Adur and Worthing District. You must hold a full current driving licence.
